For me, spiritual warfare has been one of the most challenging aspects of being a Christian. When I was an atheist, I didn't experience spiritual warfare at all because living in sin felt normal to me. However, during my transition from atheism to Christianity, I began to feel confused, as though I were being pulled by both God and the devil, like a rag doll. Unfortunately, this feeling of being pulled in both directions hasn't stopped as I've deepened my faith. Despite this struggle, I lean on God as much as possible, knowing that without Him, I might drown and drift further away. I turn to prayer and ask God for help, and there are verses that reassure me of His constant presence.

Understanding Spiritual Warfare

Spiritual warfare is a common experience in any journey with God, whether you've been a Christian for years or are a new believer. When the enemy notices you're drawing closer to God, he begins placing obstacles and challenges in your way. The comforting truth is that Jesus is always present during these times; he sees your struggles, and God and his angels are right there fighting alongside you. It's crucial to rely on God during these moments, as He can help you overcome them; you are never alone!

Building a Strong Foundation

Its important to have a strong foundation, Here are steps that i have heard work for others and ones that have worked for me:

  1. Daily Prayer and Meditation: Setting aside time each day for prayer or meditation on the word can help even if its just 5 minutes a day, you can talk to God anytime, if you need support or if you have doubts whatever it is God is always there for you, bring it to him!

  2. Scripture Reading: Lean on the word . For instance, reading 2 Timothy 2:19 talks about how God is a firm foundation "Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

  3. Community Support: Surrounding yourself with like-minded people that can encourage you, build you up and pray for you. Fellowship is huge, God will bring people in your life who are there for you and are equally yoked.

Recognizing and Resisting Negative Influences

In spiritual warfare, recognizing negative influences is important. Toxic relationships or friendships, consuming negative media, or experiencing self-doubt can all resonate as threats. Here are effective strategies to resist these influences:

  1. Set Boundaries:

Establishing boundaries in a friendship can be challenging. It's important to pray to God about it, seeking guidance on whether this person should be part of your life who is causing negitivity. When setting boundaries, approach the situation with respect and love, ensuring that your needs are also addressed.

  2. Limit Exposure to Negativity: Be mindful of the media you consume, these days everything is on the internet which is challeneges because we can get so confused in media and let it take over, make sure to taking breaks from social media once and while and make sure what your watching is positive.

  3. Practice Positive Affirmations: Use positive affirmations daily. For example, self love is very important, know that even in the hardest battles God is always with you and your never alone. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." God wont put you into fear or doubt, he will help you fight, its not all on you to fight, God is beside you fighting and he knows the pain your going through.

  1. Practice Patience: Spiritual growth is gradual. Be patient with yourself as you experience ups and downs on your journey.

  2. Celebrate Small Victories: Acknowledge your progress, however small it may seem. Each step forward is a win against spiritual warfare.
